The Long Border

The Long Border contains 4 old Victorian varieties of apple trees being trained as espaliers against the wall. We have clematis climbing around obelisks and it's full of perennials - hot colours near the shed and paler blues, mauves and pink towards the greenhouse. One interesting plant is Sanguisorba which has unusual long, pink flowers like squirrel tails

The Fruit and Veg Beds

We grow a variety of fruit and veg - including peas, runner beans, chard, garlic, potatoes, raspberries, rhubarb and blackcurrants. We make jam which we sell to help to provide funds for the garden.

Autumn at Turton Tower Kitchen Garden

The Japanese Garden contains Maple trees with leaves which turn red in the Autumn. Seen here with the background of trees in the woodland walk, also within the grounds of Turton Tower. It's a popular area for walking groups.

The Bothy

The area around the newly secured old bothy, with the pond, shown here in winter 2023/24. In the spring, this area will be planted as a sensory garden with other wildlife elements. Now the structure is safe, we are really excited to use the extra land which was previously fenced off for safety reasons.
